Let there be light
WakaWaka is a fantastic company aimed at creating worldwide access to energy. WakaWaka’s portable solar products makes it the sun a viable solution for everyone that is in need of power, but has no access to the grid. Over the past months WakaWaka’s products proved essential to our roadtrip.
“With WakaWaka, everybody is able to tap into the sun. For earthquake survivors, rural farmers, office commuters, or outdoor enthusiasts, they can all make use of solar products with the exact same WakaWaka design and quality.”
I've got the power
Although more than a billion of the world’s population live without access to the powergrid, many have cell phones. For the 550 million off-grid mobile phone users, charging is a daily challenge. They often have to travel long distances to stay connected, and up to 20% of a family’s income is spent on power.

— Martin Luther King
Share The Sun
One thing I love about WakaWaka is that for every device you buy, you give one to people living without access to electricity.
On the road, we relied heavily on our phones, whether calling to make sure a hostel had space for us or using Google Maps to get there. We were fortunate enough to have a few of their smaller portable solar power banks and one WakaWaka Power 10. The WakaWaka Power has a built in solar panel, handy light and USB port to charge your phone. This unit is perfect to throw in your backpack and charge your devices when the going gets tough. For a more heavy duty solution, the WakaWaka Power 10 made sure we had lights to make our way around wherever we camped. So no matter how much power you need, get yourself a WakaWaka to stay safe and share the sun with someone in need!
“Shine your light and make a positive impact on the world; there is nothing so honorable as helping improve the lives of others.”
