Serene Island Getaway

Tucked away in the charming island of Bugala in the Ssese Islands archipelago on Lake Victoria lies a beautiful tropical hideaway. Brovad Sands is a blissful holiday beach resort that is inviting, cozy and relaxing with direct water access. The beautiful property is embraced by a private natural white sand beach and shaded by soaring natural vegetation all around.

Getting There

Kalangala Island is the largest of all eighty-four Ssese Islands located in the northwestern part of Lake Victoria. The island is a popular destination for weekend retreats due to its relatively easy access to Entebbe and Kampala.

The easiest way to get to Kalangala is from Entebbe. There are a few options to choose from:

  1. The scheduled ferry is a government owned ship called MC Kalangala that leaves port Alice in Entebbe in Nakiwogo at 2:00PM every day and docks at Lutobok Landing Bay at around 5:00pm. Prices range from Ugx 10,000 to 14,000 for VIP.
  2. The more luxurious privately owned MV Vanessa or Nathalie take the same route on particular days. Check out Nyanza Waterways for up to date information and schedules

Another option is the Bukakkata–Bugoma route. These are also government operated routes using the MV Pearl and MV Ssese marine vessels.

A magic experience

After a few nights at Brovad Sands Lodge, I felt completely at peace and truly recharged. Although I have heard some lesser experiences, usually involving disturbance from parties being hosted at the lodge, my time at Brovad Sands left we longing for more time. So if you’re planning a weekend getaway from the capital or just want to see what Lake Victoria has to offer, Brovad Sands Lodge may be just the place for you to cool down.
